Call for Papers: “The Intersection of Humanities and Sciences” – 2026 SLC Graduate Symposium
The College of Liberal Arts is pleased to share the Call for Papers for the 2026 School of Languages and Cultures (SLC) Graduate Symposium, titled “The Intersection of Humanities and Sciences.” This annual event highlights emerging scholarship across languages, cultures, and interdisciplinary humanities research.
Organized by graduate student leads Diana Torres Arias and Akari Osumi, the 2026 symposium invites participants to explore how literary, cultural, and language-pedagogy studies intersect with empirical, technological, and scientific approaches. The focus of this year’s theme encourages early-career scholars to engage in rich dialogue across disciplinary boundaries and to consider how different modes of inquiry can illuminate complex questions about communication, pedagogy, and the human experience.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. William A. Nericcio, Director of MALAS and Professor of English and Comparative Literature at San Diego State University. Dr. Nericcio’s work spans cultural theory, visual studies, and border studies, offering a dynamic perspective that aligns with the symposium’s interdisciplinary focus. (English–ASL interpretation will be provided.)
