CLA Fellowship Showcase to Spotlight Graduate Excellence in Research
The College of Liberal Arts Office of Research and Graduate Education, in partnership with the CLA Research Academy, is excited to host the 2025 CLA Fellowship Showcase on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. This annual event honors the accomplishments of CLA graduate students who have received fellowships or awards that recognize their excellence in scholarship and discovery.
The Showcase, including a poster session, will take place in the West Main Lounge on the second floor of the Purdue Memorial Union, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
The program will open with a keynote address by Professor Kathryn Brownell (3:00–3:30 PM), followed by a poster session (3:30–4:30 PM) and a reception and buffet to close out the afternoon (4:30–5:30 PM).
This year’s showcase will feature approximately 25 graduate students presenting posters that reflect the depth and diversity of research across CLA departments. Presenters will be available to discuss their work during the interactive session and are encouraged to invite a faculty mentor or advisor to join them.
The event highlights the College’s continued commitment to fostering a dynamic and collaborative research culture across the liberal arts.
“The College of Liberal Arts stands as a vibrant hub of innovative and forward-thinking inquiry in the social sciences and humanities,” said Sorin Adam Matei, Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education. “On April 16, we will gather to honor those who have ignited the enthusiasm for excellence, for collaborative research future and have shone a spotlight on outstanding research at CLA.”
“The CLA Research Academy is proud to co-sponsor the Fellowship and Award Showcase, which offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the remarkable excellence within our college,” added Torsten Reimer, Director of the CLA Research Academy. “It highlights the extraordinary talent and dedication of our emerging scholars—the future generation of academic leaders.”
For the students participating, the event serves as a moment of recognition, reflection, and connection.
“The CLA Fellowship Showcase is a fantastic opportunity to present the research that my advisor, my colleagues, and I have done to my friends and professors,” said Juan Pablo Loaiza Ramírez, a doctoral student in the college. “It’s also an exciting chance to explore others’ work, build connections, and enjoy the camaraderie of our scholarly community.”
As the CLA Fellowship Showcase continues to grow, the event represents more than just a celebration—it’s a reflection of the creativity, dedication, and academic ambition that drive the College forward. We look forward to seeing the research community come together for an afternoon of ideas, inspiration, and connection.
