Graduate Assistantships Available in Purdue Libraries
Purdue Libraries has recently announced that there are two Graduate Assistantships available in the Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies. One is a 0.25 FTE assistantship and the other is a 0.50 FTE. CLA reminds interested graduate students that special approval is required from the CLA Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education for .75 appointments (or anything over .50 FTE).
Job Summary
One 0.25 FTE and one 0.50 FTE, the graduate research assistant will assist with Purdue Library’s online reference service. These job positions are an important link between the Purdue community and the library. Responsibilities will include appropriately answering incoming reference questions through the online chat software, being available for reference shifts on the weekend and some weekdays, and understanding library resources including databases, services, and processes.
Qualifications
Doctoral student or master’s student in a related area. Experience working in a library or conducting substantial library research. Experience teaching, mentoring and working with students is preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to work independently, and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Education
Must be a current graduate student at Purdue University in good standing.
