Next Steps – Environmental Justice, Climate Change, and Racial Justice Symposium

You are invited to join a two-day virtual symposium to learn about the intersections among racial justice, law, climate change, environmental policy, and the arts.

March 25-26, 2021

The symposium will consist of panels, breakout sessions, a film screening, and an interactive planting stories event. Artist Latrice Young will open the symposium, and internationally recognized scholar Dr. Carlton Waterhouse will give the keynote lecture.

This symposium is hosted by the Center for the Environment and co-organized with faculty and staff from the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, Purdue’s Climate Change Research Center, the Native American Educational and Cultural Center, the Asian American and Asian Resource and Cultural Center, the Honors College, and the Patti & Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance.

The Honors College Visiting Scholar Program and the Black Cultural Center provided support and collaboration to invite distinguished guests. Symposium support is based on the grant titled ‘Enabling Inclusion, by the Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence.

This event is virtual and open to the public. Live closed captioning will be available during panel sessions.
