CLA organized conference: Defining Ethical Leadership in AI and Big Data

This month, Purdue will host a virtual event, “Defining Ethical Leadership” as a part of the Lilly Endowment grant “Leading Ethically in the Age of AI and Big Data”. I hope you will join us on Wednesday October 28 at 1 PM via Zoom (URL Here) for a discussion of two questions that pertain to the key themes of the initiative:

• How should we define the concept of ethical leadership? 
• What does the concept of ethical leadership need to include in relation to challenges posed by emerging technologies such as AI and Big Data?

The event will be a conversation between Dr. Philip Brey (Professor of Philosophy of Technology at the University of Twente, Netherlands, and president of the International Society for Ethics and Information Technology) and Dr. Michael Lamb (Assistant Professor of Politics, Ethics, and Interdisciplinary Humanities and Executive Director of the Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest University). Natasha Singer, Technology Reporter for The New York Times, will moderate the discussion.

This public conversation will be followed by a moderated conversation about the information shared in the public event and how it might inform development of curricula, the key outcome of the grant. Gary MacDougal, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mark Controls Corporation and partner of McKinsey & Company, will deliver a response to the speakers.
